In the past, there was a man who kept thirty sheep.
從前,有一個(gè)人,養(yǎng)了三十只羊。
One morning, he discovered that one sheep was missing. Where had it gone? Upon examination, he found that his fold was damaged. During the night a wolf had broken into the fold and devoured the sheep.
一天早上,他發(fā)現(xiàn)少了一只羊。這只羊到哪兒去了呢?再一查看,原來(lái)是他的羊圈壞了。夜里狼闖進(jìn)羊圈,羊是被狼吃掉的。
His friend said to him:
他的朋友對(duì)他說(shuō):
"You had better mend the fold quickly."
“快把羊圈修理修理吧!”
He said:
他說(shuō):
"The sheep had already been devoured by the wolf. What is the use of mending the fold?"
“羊已經(jīng)被狼吃了,修理羊圈還有什么用呢?”
He did not listen to his friend's advice.
他沒(méi)有聽(tīng)取朋友的意見(jiàn)。
The following morning, he discovered that during the night the wolf had again broken into the fold and devoured another sheep. Not until then did he realize that his friend was right.
第二天早上,他發(fā)現(xiàn)夜里狼又闖進(jìn)羊圈,又吃掉了一只羊。這時(shí)候,他才明白,朋友的意見(jiàn)是對(duì)的。
Consequently, he mended the fold at once, and thereafter no more sheep were devoured by the wolf.
于是,他馬上把羊圈修理好。從此,他的羊再也沒(méi)有被狼吃掉過(guò)。
